MV Agusta Engine Operating Principle!

MV Agusta motorcycles stand out with a unique technical solution – a counter-rotating crankshaft. Unlike most motorcycles, whose crankshaft rotates in the same direction as the wheels, MV Agusta engines operate in the opposite direction.

This principle reduces rotational inertia and improves the motorcycle’s stability and balance, especially when maneuvering or exiting corners. As a result, the motorcycle becomes more precise and easier to handle, which is essential for both sport and road riding.

The counter-rotating crankshaft is a technology that has so far been used mainly in MotoGP-level racing machines, and MV Agusta is one of the few manufacturers to implement it in production motorcycles.

In addition, several MV Agusta models are equipped with an automatic clutch system (SCS – Smart Clutch System). This system allows the rider to start and stop without using the clutch lever, while maintaining full control over gear shifting.

The result is enhanced stability, smoother power delivery, and a more intuitive riding experience, perfectly illustrating MV Agusta’s approach to engineering – technical precision combined with functionality.
